Josh Hart on Zion: “He’s a walking 24-and-8 guy. He’s a guy that you think he’s doing well, then you look up and he’s 39 (points) and four (rebounds). That’s the kind of player he is,” “He’s only played (nine) games. It’s scary to see how good he is this early. He’s going to be a problem.”
“It’s expected, honestly,” Jrue Holiday said. “Honestly, I don’t see anybody that can guard him. We’ve got guys who can take the pressure off of him scoring, but he makes it looks so easy,I didn’t even know he had 30 tonight.”
“(He was) just being Zion,” Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry added. “We see it all the time … He hasn’t even scratched the surface yet.”

He sounds so mature every time he speaks. Not only is he freakishly talented, he might also have the perfect mindset that’ll help him become an amazing superstar.
[–][TOR] Hakeem Olajuwon Leolorin 49
His speech on draft day gave us a real good sense of what he's about. Clearly a wholesome and mature kid that was raised well, I wish him only success in his career (and hopefully he stays in the Western Conference, too!).
His basketball IQ is insanely high, so mature at 19
I mean, his statements are always down to earth and humble. It looks like he knows his value but also knows he's still an unpolished diamond. Maybe it's just facade and communication skill, but i'll look at the half-full glass here and assume it's genuine. Would love to see him put New Orleans on the map with BIs help
[–]Pelicans CanalVillainy 47
Speaking of BI I had a complete misconception about him. He’s incredibly humble. So hyped for the future of this team.
[–]Lakers watchingsongsDL 40
Lonzo too. The opposite of his father.
I watched this guy since a junior in high school. He IS this humble and down to earth. He was SOOOO much better than his teammates you’d think he’d walk around like he was too good for them but you watch him in games, passing the ball, diving on the floor for loose balls, high fiving teammates when they score. Jumping up and down on the bench when the benchwarmers closed out a blow out game. All smiles all the time. No ego on this kid. Just a great attitude.
[–]Pistons brlftzday 293
I have two daughters at Duke and can absolutely confirm that he’s universally appreciated as a super cool guy. Nothing phony about that persona.
[–]Pelicans WhatThePenis 190
As a Duke fan and now NOP fan, I don't think he's given anything except a near-perfect response to every interview question he's been asked. He has every reason in the world to be cocky and he isn't. Love it.
[–]Knicks Jeff-Van-Gundy 53
He kinda flashed a bit of cockiness with that, “I expected to make an impact but not like this” comment and I love it. He’s not acting fake, he knows what he can do, he knows he’s doing well and he knows he’ll get even better
[–][GSW] DeMarcus Cousins jerkmcgee_ 209
That’s just called “confidence”.
[–]Bulls BlackMathNerd 18
I'm of the opinion you can't truly be great without a supreme degree of confidence or arrogance, especially in sports.
Great mentality to have and he's so young. Dame is another example of being completely confident but not arrogant.
i'm so sad the bulls didn't get the first pick. also i'm sad the bulls didn't try to trade up for doncic.
come on...do something
[–]Warriors Docxm 14
Stop, stop, they're already dead
Zions vision is phenomenal. Had a fuckin terrific bounce pass from the perimeter yesterday to a cutter, I think it was Hart
Lob to Hart for a dunk, bounce pass to Melli for a layup. Both passes were excellent.
[–][PHI] Efthimi Rentzias I_hate_traveling 541
I'm more impressed with his footwork honestly. I thought he was just a brute who overpowered people, but nope, his footwork in traffic is textbook.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone utilize a simple jump-stop in the lane to such great effect before. He's beating people with fundamentals, not just atheticism.
[–][HOU] Luis Scola H-TownDown 46
Nobody who actually watched a lot of Zion in college thought he was just a dunker. Those people were just highlight watchers. His footwork was the first thing that jumped out to me as well.
He also has soft hands. He’s able to somehow get the ball to go in on his post moves.
[–][UTA] Andrei Kirilenko astruggleitself 17
His finishing ability combined with his offensive rebounding and affinity for scoring on putbacks will make him such a threat in the post, in the PnR, and on offball cuts
It's nuts, but he could end up being the PF version of Shaq - almost like a bigger Charles Barkley
[–]Cavaliers campbellhw 42
He already has the best hop step in the league
LeBron James still exists, but Zion is indeed nasty.
Hop step is a dangerous move on the knees. It’s part of why you rarely see it these days.
[–][LAL] Xavier Henry fluffygangsta420 1158
I love watching this pelicans team so much. Seriously, how can you not like Jrue, Zo, BI, Zion, JJ, Hayes, and Hart lmao. As a laker fan I was gonna watch these guys anyways but I feel they are quickly becoming one of the most intriguing teams in all of the NBA. I for one am fucking hyped to see what this team can do in the future
[–]76ers Mikey_Bagadonuts 42 指標 15小時前
Yeah, there's a ton of squads this year that have become must watch outside of your home team - NO and Memphis included, on top of the regular top teams.
Might be the most exciting team in terms of pure potential and playstyle I've ever seen.
Hayes/Zion should become the most freakish athletic frontcourt in NBA history if they stay healthy and continue to develop the way they are
[–]Supersonics not-who-you-think 21
I want Jaxson to be able to shoot corner threes SO BAD. He shot 74% on FTs in college. If he can just occasionally GTFO of the way of Zion-involved PnRs it'll be so much fun.
[–]Pelicans Andtheyrustledsoftly 11
I fully expect that at least one if not both of Zion and Jax will be consistent open 3 shooters in a couple years honestly
Pelicans and the Grizzlies are going to be really dangerous in the coming years provided the FO stays on top of things.
[–]Pelicans KonigSteve 117
I believe in David Griffin so far, still not sold on Gentry but we'll see.
[–][PHI] Jrue Holiday ZionEmbiid 8
I think he's the right coach for getting to be a contender (right now), but maybe not for winning a championship. Similar to Brett Brown in a way, who imo, should be moved on from.
It’s still insane to me how hard people shat all over zo. Like literally go watch him he plays so incredibly hard, is always contributing to winning in one way or another.
[–]Mavericks Tankwagon Alexkono 6
He's really good for Zion too. Always seems to be looking to feed the big fella.
[–]Celtics youhavethebridge 87
he got shat on because he played for the Lakers
And his shitbag dad. I always felt terrible because Zo seems to really love basketball and doesn’t talk much but his Dad just refused to stfu
[–]Pelicans Dredeuced 18
Both he and Ingram are playing way better since coming over, though Lonzo still has a lot of question marks in his game going forward. We've just mitigated some of the issues.
[–]Warriors KanyeWest_GayFish 14 指標 13小時前
You must not have watched either player the second half of last year. Both were insane before injuries hit
[–]Lakers DoILookUnsureToYou 19
Yeah, Zo was averaging 15+ ppg 7+ assists I believe before he went down. He was also the only guy holding the team together when Bron went down.
Weight like Boban, height like Draymond, but no one flies like Zion. Kid goes up like a cartoon character. I love it.
You can feel the chemistry brewing in that team

Pels: draft another generational big man
Just a few days ago a lot of people hadn't caught up to how terrifying the Pelicans are with Zion. There's still people who look at our record-- haven't seen Zion or BI or improved Lonzo play .
Pelicans fans know what we have. Teams are going to get destroyed.
[–]Lakers quantumsquarepants 26
Lakers fans knows what’s up too. We believed in Ingram, Lonzo and Hart before even y’all.
Legitimately see him averaging 28-14-5 on 68% TS or something bonkers like that further on in his career.
[–]Pelicans LookLikeUpToMe 242
Dude could probably pull that off next season
[–][PHI] Landry Shamet JoelEmbeast 246
I think he'll peak earlier in his career than the average star. That's not to say he can't have a long great career but I think his best years will come when his athleticism is still superhuman in the next 1-4 years.
What makes you think that a 19 year old’s athleticism would decline after four years when he would be 23 and literally starting his prime.
I don't agree with his post but I can kind of see where he's coming from. The kid defies physics. He's the weight of Boban (while being 10 inches under his height) and does some of the craziest, most athletic jumps I have ever seen.
[–]Karimdelacrop 25
I thought the same about Lebron and look how that panned out
Lebron is also 3 inches taller and 30 pounds lighter. Lebron also spends 1.5 million per year and goes on insane diets to keep playing at the level that he does.
[–]Timberwolves BBQTuck 24
I always worry about health when guys play with such explosiveness.
Hopefully his legs hold up. He's simply too much fun to watch.
[–]Bucks Uberjeagermeiter 39
I only got to see his first game(when he had all those 3’s), just wondering if he is using the 3- pointer now too. I’m so happy this kid is in the league. It’s early, but I think he’s going to be special.
[–]Pelicans Dredeuced 63
Basically no 3 point shooting of any efficacy since. Which makes sense because we've got a ton of 3pt shooting elsewhere.
